Privacy Policy

1. Age Requirement

EssaiQ Relax is intended solely for users who are 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a user is under 13, we will immediately delete their account and all associated data. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at privacy@essaiq.com.

This policy is consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Users between 13 and 17 are minors and we encourage parental awareness of their use of this app.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the app:

Account information: email address, display name, grade level, birth year (used only for age verification — not stored after signup)
Planner tasks: task title, category (e.g. Math, Sports/Practice, Part-time Job, Tuition/Coaching), due date, and estimated prep time — stored only while the task is active. Completed or deleted tasks are permanently removed immediately. We never retain a history of what you completed.
Daily Vibe check-ins: a number from 1–5 representing how your day is going, stored by date. Automatically deleted after 90 days.
Joke and song ratings: thumbs up/down signals to improve suggestions (automatically deleted after 30 days)
Perspective helpfulness ratings: thumbs up/down on Fresh Angle responses — no text stored, rating only (automatically deleted after 90 days)
Music for My Mood: mood selections and song suggestions are generated in real time and never stored
Quick Break: joke content and breathing exercises are generated in real time and never stored
Get a Fresh Angle: the text you share is sent to the Anthropic Claude API solely to generate a response and is never stored by EssaiQ Relax. Do not share sensitive personal information. If you are in crisis, please contact 988 or text HOME to 741741.
Artist preferences (optional): if you share artist names when using Music for My Mood, this is used only within your current browser session to improve suggestions and is never stored.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect or Sell

We do not store AI conversation history or Claude API inputs/outputs
We do not collect ZIP code, school name, or location data
We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes — ever.
We do not use your data to serve ads or build advertising profiles
We do not use minor users' data (ages 13–17) for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose

4. How We Use Your Information

To operate and improve EssaiQ Relax features
To authenticate your account and maintain your session
To personalize app content (e.g., grade-appropriate suggestions)

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Planner tasks: deleted immediately when completed or removed by you — no history is kept
Daily Vibe check-ins: automatically purged after 90 days
Joke and song ratings: automatically purged after 30 days
Perspective helpfulness ratings: automatically purged after 90 days
Mood sessions, perspective text, artist preferences: never stored

You may delete your account and all associated data at any time directly from the app via Settings → Delete my account. Deletion is immediate and permanent. You can also email privacy@essaiq.com for assistance.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

Supabase — database and authentication
Anthropic Claude API — AI-generated jokes, music suggestions, task prioritization, perspective reframes, and breathing exercise guidance
Vercel — hosting and deployment

Each service has its own privacy policy. Content you enter in the Planner (task titles, exam names, schedule details) may be sent to the Anthropic Claude API to generate your study plan. We do not send your name, email, or account details to the API. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train its models by default — see Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level security on our database, and secure authentication. However, no system is completely secure — please use a strong, unique password.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the effective date and, where appropriate, by email.
